How Golden Rubber made its smallholder supply chain EUDR-ready with TRST01Chain

01

Challenge

The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) requires that natural rubber placed on the EU market is deforestation-free, legally produced and traceable to the plot, backed by a Due Diligence Statement (DDS). For a raw-material supplier to the tyre industry this is a market-access condition. The global tyre makers Golden Rubber supplies cannot ship to Europe unless the rubber inside their tyres is traceable to the farm.

Golden Rubber Group, one of the largest natural-rubber suppliers to the tyre industry, sources from a smallholder base of more than 25,000 growers in Côte d'Ivoire and processes across two facilities, GR and GRG. Rubber is collected from many small farms, aggregated by traders and agents, then processed at the factory gate.

EUDR traceability has to begin at the farmer. Golden Rubber needed every plot mapped and geolocated as GeoJSON, every farmer's identity, consent and risk status captured, every plot screened for deforestation, and every aggregation transaction recorded, so that finished production could be traced back to the exact plots it came from.

02

Approach

TRST01 deployed TRST01Chain, its first-mile traceability platform, customised to how Golden Rubber and its collection network operate on the ground.

  • Customised the TRST01Chain technology stack to Golden Rubber's teams and field workflow.
  • Ran a large field-mapping programme, with a third-party partner, to capture every plot on the ground.
  • Collected GeoJSON, farmer Know Your Customer (KYC) data, consent and a risk assessment for each grower, to the required standard.
  • Equipped traders and agents with the IntelliTrack app to record every aggregation transaction up to the factory gate.

03

Solution

With TRST01Chain in place, Golden Rubber can trace every batch of production back to the plots it came from, across both facilities.

  • Farmer onboarding with verified KYC, consent and plot polygon mapping (GeoJSON) for every grower.
  • Satellite and AI deforestation analysis run on every plot, with plot-level risk scoring.
  • Transaction capture through IntelliTrack across traders and agents, keeping lots traceable from farm to factory gate.
  • Automatic generation of traceability certificates, deforestation-analysis results and DDS data.
  • A compliance dashboard to prove and monitor deforestation-free, EUDR-ready sourcing across GR and GRG.

What’s next

With its smallholder base mapped and screened, Golden Rubber is positioned as an early EUDR-compliant supplier, and is extending the same plot-level traceability across its wider grower network as volumes to Europe grow.
